About us

The Oldest Restaurant in Nottingham

There has been a restaurant at 35 Forman Street since 1890 and the current building was originally converted from three workers cottages. The restaurant has been called Punchinello's since 1965 and is the Anglicized version of the original Neopolitan character called Pulcinella which later became better known as Punch & Judy (although Punch's wife was originally called Joan).

 So who are we?

Le Mistral Group. Is owned by local businesspeople Jim Anderson, Andy Lee & Denise McCarthy. We are all passionate about food and wine and always use the best ingredients that can be sourced whether locally or abroad from the finest Derbyshire Beef to French cheese direct from the Rungis market in Paris. To find out more about the other restaurants in our group please follow this link to Le Mistral.

Dominic Corder - General ManagerDominic Corder - General Manager. Dominic joined Punchinello's from The Waltons Hotel where he held the position of General Manager for 4 years. He is Nottingham born and bred and has always lived in the city (apart from a short flirtation with the Lake District which lasted 9 years!). He plans to regenerate the interest that Punchinello's has always had with local Nottingham people and visitors alike and place this fantastic restaurant back in the spotlight. With a young and vibrant team and one of Nottingham's up and coming chefs, who puts his personal mark on the menus we offer, sourcing local and fresh produce, this is the partnership Nottingham has been waiting for. Dominic is engaged to the lovely (and very understanding) Kathryn.
